'Nevis View' probably has every home comfort you might wish for including full oil-fired central hearing, a fully equipped kitchen, double glazing, a Colour TV with Teletext (not FastText) and an automatic washing machine. The porch has a rather unusual feature of two cat-flaps - one to the hallway and one to the outside! It is also most effective at keeping the property warm inside. The main feature of the lounge is a sliding patio door leading onto a balcony which looks across the Caledonian Canal towards Ben Nevis and Aonach Mor. The view is stunning and changes constantly with the weather and seasons. With a good set of binoculars it can be possible to make out the tiny figures of climbers and walkers! Garden chairs are provided on the balcony, which catches the sun until about 3pm (2pm in winter). The kitchen is fully fitted and the equipment includes crockery, cutlery, a selection of pots and pans, a small microwave oven, an built-in electric oven and gas hob, and a fridge with a small freezer compartment. There is also a dining table with chairs for five. Bed linen is provided. Beds have combination duvets, plus bedside tables with lights and ample hanging room. There is a chest of drawers in the double and bunk bedrooms, and an under-bed drawer in the single one. The bathroom has tiles with a small floral pattern. In addition to the radiator, there is an 9KW electric shower over the bath, and a shaver point adjacent to the sink. The toilet is in the same room. The central heating is controlled by a programable room thermostat, so will come on at night if it's particularly cold. In the event of a power cut there is also a portable Calor Gas heater. There are no additional fuel charges. When 'Nevis View' was extended and modernised all work done had to comply with the then current Building Regulations. This means that all power outlets are protected by a built-in RCD, and there is a mains-powered smoke detector in the hallway. Other safety features include a fire blanket and extinguisher in the kitchen, and an outside light. Outside is a newly-surfaced private access road leading up to the 'main' road (B8004) at the top. There is ample parking for a couple of cars, and two garden areas. In the spring lots of daffodils come into flower. Across the way in the fenced area is a cloths line, and on the same side as 'Nevis View' is an extensive enclosed area (about ½ acre). The part nearest the building is kept cut, but the larger part is left to nature and slopes away to a small stream and down to the Caledonian Canal. During the winter months you may well receive visit from the local sheep, who are allowed to wander freely at tht time of the year. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
